Join Christen as she teaches creative approaches to transforming old, ugly sweaters into elegant wristwarmers. These are not only sustainable, they’re also cheap, fun, and trendy! Get your creative juices flowing as Christen demonstrates techniques, shares patterns, and leaves you time to create your own masterpiece. Learn unique approaches to sewing and embellishing wristwarmers and take home “art” you can wear. Or give them as a gift if you can bear to part with them when you’re done! Sewing machines will be available.
Christen Mattix grew up in Thailand but lives in Seattle. Mattix is an interdisciplinary artist working in sculpture, drawing, and performance. She has taught Drawing and Painting at the Frye Art Museum, Pratt Fine Art, and Seattle Pacific University. Mattix completed a studio apprenticeship with Chicago artist Tim Lowly. She was one of 6 artists chosen to take part in the BY/FOR Residency in Vancouver, Canada. Recently, her work has been exhibited at SAM Gallery, Shift Studio, and The Other Roadside Attraction. Mattix is passionate about sharing ideas, exchanging laughs, and creating community in the classroom.
