Grand Hallway CD Release Show With Full Orchestra
Seattle, Washington - August 1, 2009 - Seattle baroque pop band Grand Hallway will celebrate the release of their new album, "Promenade," with a special record release show at the Fremont Abbey Great Hall on Thursday, September 17th. Joining the band on stage will be the Seattle Rock Orchestra, a 15 piece symphonic orchestra comprised of Seattle's best freelance classical and pop musicians. This marks the latest collaboration for the orchestra, who in the past year have performed with various local artists including Jeremy Enigk, Jesse Sykes, Damien Jurado, and Rosie Thomas. The show is also scheduled to feature a children's choir, and the entire event will be filmed for a live DVD due out later this year.
Grand Hallway features singer/songwriter Tomo Nakayama and members of local favorites the Maldives, Sleepy Eyes of Death, Voyager One, and Widower. "Promenade" is the band's second album, following 2007's, "Yes is the Answer." It has already been hailed "a masterpiece" by Fensepost.com, as well as a collection of "dazzling, eloquent love songs" by Seattle Weekly. Sean Nelson of Harvey Danger calls Nakayama's "the most beautiful singing voice in Seattle," and Damien Jurado says Grand Hallway "should be the biggest band in the world, if not the most talked about band in Seattle."
Opening the show are The Maldives, who also have a new record, "Listen To The Thunder," due out in September on local imprint Mt. Fuji Records. The doors will open at 7pm, all ages are welcome, and tickets are $10 at the door, and $8 in advance (available through Brown Paper Tickets).
